Cam taking minutes
Attending: Joey, Lynn, Rachel, Miryam, Gabrielle, Conrad, Derek, Jessica, Cam, Ilaina, Alyssa, Matt, Miguel, Andrew, Lara, Brandy, Gillian, Isaac, Amanda, McKenzie,
DISCUSSION:
1) UVSS Rep.
Pride needs a UVSS rep—the only person volunteering to do it is Gabrielle. Ilaina explains what the UVSS is and does. No other person volunteered during the meeting, thusly, Gabrielle is nominated.
Gabrielle nominates herself. Ilaina seconds.
Unanimous assent. Gabrielle is the new UVSS rep.
2) Each advocacy group gets a member on the human rights council. Andrew Johnson wants the job. The HRC relates to both employment—fair hiring processes—and educational policies. Andrew Johnson is running.
Miryam Nominaes Andrew.
Joey Seconds.
Unanimous consent. Andrew gets the position.
3) Trans Rep is needed—liason between trans groups and UVic pride.
Cam nominates Rachel.
Gabrielle seconds.
Unanimous consent.
Rachel is now the Trans rep.
4) Ilaina proposes a hiring committee be formed to find the new workstudy.
Joey seconds.
Unanimous.
Motion passes.
5) Steering committee. There is a conference coming up, so we need to do a lot of fundraising and organizing. A steering committee is needed. Anyone interested talk to Joey or Miryam, or email CUQSUCvictoria@gmail.com
Joey proposes this.
Rachel seconds.
Unanimous consent.
Motion passes
6) Meet’n’Greet. On Friday, October 9th, there will be a meet’n’greet from 1-5 PM. There will be food and people can come and ask questions and hang out. And eat. There will be cupcakes. It is suggested to move it to Thursday, to make sure that people can come before leaving for the Thanksgiving weekend.
7) Movie nights. These will occur twice monthly, once at Uvic and once at Camosum. Miryam needs help with this, so please contact her.
8) Coffee House occurs second and fourth Fridays at Serious Coffee on Broad, between Yates and View. At 7:30. It is reportedly SUPER-Fun.
9) Amanda wishes to remind us all of institutionalism and collective, as well as to find out what the group WISHES pride to be, or thinks about pride.
