August 12th

Attendees: Andrew, Mirko, Miryam, Amanda, Lynne, Ilaina, Allan

Minutes:

Lynne was generally inspiring.

Where things stand now:
We have to paid position
We have no volunteers
This is not abnormal for the summer
The difference is that we're hosting a conference

Mim's soapbox: break Pride and Conference down into manageable tasks with defined timeline. We _can_ still host the conference!

Mirko: We can do this, but we need a small core of people to work on the conference. Emphasis on small group, to keep manageable. We are lacking communication. Current budget will not work. Also, we can't count on registration fees. Fundraiser needs to be as inclusive as the conference, can't just focus on one group of people.

Amanda: Suggestion: have UVic Pride's primary focus be the conference, use Pride as steering committee. Communication has to happen - why aren't we using Basecamp to its extent? We need to create hope/support - have event. Communication with rest of collective - this isn't really happening.

Andrew: Will do computer stuff. Pride webpage, CUQSC webpage, Basecamp. Webmaster!

Allan: Has resigned. Will not be accessible this semester.

Meetings: Conference meetings on Wednesdays @ 5:30, Pride meetings at 6:00. possibly change after recruiting

Recruiting: Tabling, event post tabling

Conference Coordinator: We can't afford to hire through union. We could pay them an honorarium. Possibly give honoraria to multiple people.
