Women's Centre
The Women's Centre is committed to elimination of racism, homophobia, poverty and other forms of oppression. The Women's Centre is a collectively run drop-in centre open to all self-identified women on campus. It provides a gender exclusive safe space for women to hang out, meet people, get information and organize. The Centre has a library that is open to all genders. For more information stop by the Centre in SUB B107 and talk to the coordinator, or just drop by in your spare time to relax or volunteer! Society for Students with a Disability (SSD)
SSD is a student advocacy group that promotes the full participation and inclusion of disabled students at the University of Victoria. SSD works toward providing a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for all self-identified disabled students. SSD advocates for individual accommodation and systemic changes to the University that will make post-secondary education more accessible for self-identified students with disabilities. Native Students Union (NSU)
The NSU works to empower Aboriginal students to benefit from the learning experiences available at UVic. The NSU also provides a forum through which Aboriginal students can maintain strong cultural and spiritual ties with other Aboriginal students in the post-secondary education system. The NSU offers support and encouragement in the form of regular meetings and social events. UVic Pride Collective
UVic Pride is run by awesome volunteers to advocate for any and all sexual and gender orientations and expressions (that means you, if you want it to). UVic Pride aims to maintain a safe space on campus welcoming any and all queer and ally people to get involved, volunteer or just hang out on our comfy couches. UVic Pride regularly holds dances, discussion groups, coffee houses and more! Students of Colour Collective (SOCC)
SOCC welcomes and encourages all self-identified student of colour at UVic to become active members. The group advocates on behalf of all students of colour by initiating and implementing a progressive, anti-racist mandate. SOCC supports all marginalized peoples in their struggles against oppression whether is due to gender, sexuality, ability and/or class.
