As an undergraduate student at UVic, you are a member of the University of Victoria Students' Society (UVSS) and the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS). We work on your behalf by offering essential services, throwing great events and defending your interests to all levels of government.
The UVSS is Local 44 of the CFS, a federation of student unions made up of over one half million students across the country. The CFS advocates for an affordable and accessible education and it pools the resources of its member locals in order to provide services such as the Studentsaver discount card, International Student Identity Card (ISIC), homes4students.ca, and the National Student Health Network.
Want to get involved in your campus?
This coming September, UVic is expecting close to 2,500 participants in the New Student Orientation programs. We need students like you to welcome them to their new campus and help them make their first meaningful connection with your Faculty and the campus as a whole. This strong connection supports students’ understanding of academic expectations and their overall success at university.
Student Transition Services will provide you with training in August, a tour schedule on the day, an orientation T-shirt and refreshments. Being an orientation tour guide looks great on your resume and our well-recognized training program will help you sharpen your skills in public speaking, small group facilitation and leadership. Being a mentor through orientation provides an excellent professional development opportunity for UVic Students. When you volunteer for orientation, you make a difference.
